The serpent's egg

Set in Berlin in the 1920s, she explores the fear and despair that the city evokes in Manuela and Aber Rosenberg, two Jewish trapeze artists. The suicide of Manuela's husband (Abel's brother) leaves them stranded in Berlin, which already begins to show the sinister elements of cruelty and anti-Semitism that characterized the later Nazi regime. A series of events leads them to seek treatment in a clinic, which was actually a space to develop "racial" experiments on individuals.
