JV.-met Neruda's poetry in a hospital where I improved a slight tuberculosis in the mountains, around the year 1952 or 1953. I was shocked of course, was of Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair (1924). Then I met him, years later, a night at Volodia Teitelboim. And shortly after I went to see The Chascona which was down with a cold. He was in bed and who is on a boat, because there looked a waterfall that fell outside his window. Of course all that impressed me. I remember in a long conversation with her bed told me that a magazine compared him to Jorge Luis Borges. "What do I have to do with Borges?" He said, and continued talking. I was in bed a series of books about birds. I also spoke of the importance for a writer who was to know their land.

JV.-I think it's very possible that they have killed at Clinica Santa Maria, by the hatred of the Pinochet dictatorship and against the poet himself.

MC. - What goals should meet Neruda Foundation?, What was the last will of the poet?
JV. Her objective was to train Chilean poets and Latin American spirit of brotherhood among the countries with indigenous cultures and mestizos, as we are with our mestizaje Chileans with the Mapuche.
